MOTOR CONTROL SYSTEM

 

Motor Control Agent - MCA: hosted in carrier board (firmware)

Motor Control Manager Software - MCM: on a standard Windows 7/x64 PC for motor control

 

The MCM communicate with MCA trough Ethernet interface and UDP/IP telegram using custom protocol for high speed and low overhead (If needed with EtherCAT®).

 

 

 

The motor control system is a complex stack of h/w and s/w distributed on several devices.


The full bottom up list of components is the following


1. The motor with or without encoder. The s/w stack is ready to control a large number to motors both 3-phase and 2-bipolar phases brushless permanent magnetic motors.


2. The motor control board. The QDESYS NETMOT board and AVNET FMC-MC1 board are FMC daughter boards ready to control up to two motors. NETMOT include two PHY for industrial networking, FMC-MC1 include Xilinx 7-family XADC interface for analog acquisition. These boards require external power supply to driver the motor.


3. The carrier board holds the Xilinx FPGA with system on chip capability in s/w using Microblaze or h/w in case of ZYNQ device.


4. A standard PC with Microsoft Windows-7-x64 and for remote control software.


The carrier board hosts the Motor Control Agent software or MCA


The PC hosts the Motor Control Manager Software or MCM.


The MCM communicate with MCA trough Ethernet interface and UDP/IP telegram using custom protocol for high speed and low overhead.
